Orchha's Palaces and Cenotaphs
Orchha was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajputs, and its forts and palaces were built along the Betwa River. The Jahangir Mahal, a four-storey palace with a fine view from its rooftop, and the nearby Raj Mahal with its vivid murals are the town's centrepieces. Across the river, the chhatris — the ornate cenotaphs of Orchha's rulers — are best seen from the opposite bank.
